Romans 12:16

Gotta love John Piper. I dream of going to Minnesota and hearing him preach! This was his blog the other day. That it was a happy reminder to me, a 26 year old, who often thinks she's pretty wise in her own sight. :)

Never Be Wise In Your Own Sight
(Author: John Piper)

If a twelve-year-old makes A's in school and generally makes wise choices, how would you help her apply this verse to herself?

Never be wise in your own sight. (Romans 12:16)

You might say:
1. It means that you gladly admit that all true wisdom is from God. It is his, and not finally ours.

2. It means that you recognize that any sense of superiority comes from comparing yourself only with your inferiors. But the most important person to compare yourself with is God, and he is infinitely wiser than you. Not only that, there are a lot of people in the world wiser than you.

3. It means that you feel humbled by the fact that you are a sinner deserving of God's wrath, and that you are amazed at the grace that gives you eternal life. This humility and amazement swallows up a sense of pride.

4. It means that you do not count yourself worthy of being served, but rather "empty yourself" and become obedient and serve others, both the wise and the foolish.

5. It means that you are mainly not thinking about yourself at all but taken up with how admirable Jesus is and how wonderful his works are and how interesting and needy others are.

Brrrrrrrrr

SO, we had a cold front come through and now it is only 81 degrees outside. I might have to dig my sweaters back out. Just when I thought itwas safe to put them away fror the summer! Dern Phoenix.

Honestly, I am not complaining, considering it was 98 degrees on Monday and I was not mentally prepared for it. I need to ease into the 100s not jump into them early April.

Anyone wanna come visit in July when it peaks at 120 degrees. Didn't think so.

Psalm 145

A psalm of praise. Of David.

1 I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise your name for ever and ever.
2 Every day I will praise you
and extol your name for ever and ever.

3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
4 One generation will commend your works to another;
they will tell of your mighty acts.
5 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works,
and I will proclaim your great deeds.
7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
9 The LORD is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.
10 All you have made will praise you, O LORD;
your saints will extol you.
11 They will tell of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,
12 so that all men may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.

The LORD is faithful to all his promises
and loving toward all he has made. [c]
14 The LORD upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food at the proper time.
16 You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
18 The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
20 The LORD watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD.
Let every creature praise his holy name
for ever and ever.

Ellie Hears A What?

A proud Mom and Dad sent this to me today. It's on You Tube so I figured it was ok to share publically. One of my babies recently went from bilateral hearing aids to a cochlear implant. It can be pretty traumatic. Thought those of you that know what I do might like a taste of it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrPA2qv13j0

p.s.- I cried like a baby when I watched it. The part where she says, "I can leave this on" and "We will take it home" just about killed me.

Oh the drama

I am ready for lots of drama to be done with. In no specific order:

1. Co-worker snotty drama
2. Family sickness drama
3. Baby drama
4. School drama (only 6 more weeks)
5. Husband working two stressful jobs drama
6. Everybody elses drama

I feel like I am in high school again. . .never wanting to be in the middle of the drama but always finding myself to be in the middle of the drama!

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRG!
